Which department does SHK belong to?The Board now reports to the Defence Ministry. Before 2003 the Board reported to the Ministry of Industry, Employment and Communications.

Why are there so few reports concerning gliding? SHK has the right to give the investigation responsibility to another body. SHK has an agreement with the Swedish Soaring Federation who carries out the majority of accident and incident investigations concerning gliding. It is principally accidents involving serious injury or death that are investigated by SHK. For reports made by the Swedish Soaring Federation, see: www.segelflyget.se.
Where can I find statistics for civil aviation? Statistical analysis and flight safety statistics for civil aviation are performed by the Swedish Transport Agency, Aviation Department. For information, please contact: luftfart@transportstyrelsen.se
Is there a report from the Jan-Hewelius accident?The investigation was conducted by Poland. SHK has no translation in English. The Maritime Department at the Swedish Transport Agency has only a short summary in Swedish.
Where can I get the report on the Scandinavian Star accident that occurred April 7, 1990?The report is published on the website of The Norwegian Maritime Directorate:

Why is the Gottröra accident report not available in the database? The report was published in 1993. The database does not go as far back as 1991 (date of event). You can, however, find/download the report under the menue “Aviation/Reports and Search Engine”.

Do you also investigate accidents in the workplace, or are you limited to investigating accidents only involving the public? Are there any common factors in the accidents that you investigate?Our work deals with air traffic accidents, accidents at sea, railway accidents, as well as other serious accidents. To qualify as serious, an accident must involve serious injury or death to several persons or extensive damage to property or the environment. Additionally, the investigation must be deemed to have particular significance from a safety point of view.
